Startup Potential Revealed By Winners Of 2018 Europa Award
The Europas, an award ceremony for technology startups, saw its yearly get-together earlier this week, featuring a series of events including intricate discussions of nascent technology, new startup pitches and a grand celebration of Europe’s most innovative startups, contributors and DTL projects.
Thousands of public votes determine the annual winners as well as judges formed of lead investors and company founders. As an annual event originating in 2009, the Europa Awards feature the brightest and most promising innovative startups across the continent.
Free tickets were distributed as an effort to include more diverse clients and further expand Europe’s cryptocurrency environment as part of a “Tech Diversity Matters” campaign, although a live stream of the ceremony was not provided.
Around 60 speaking figures attended the event’s panel discussions prior to the planned award ceremony. Many startups also joined in on the pitching segment including Coinweb, Tube chat, Blockchip and others, with the winning pitch going to the PsyceApps startup.
Prior to the event, startups applied for awards or were nominated by other involved parties, and the emerging winners were placed together by the professional industry judges assigned to decide on Europe’s most innovative startups in all departments. The award ceremony also charged no fees for applicants and winners.
TechCrunch is a co-host to the Europa Award Ceremony, and attending members of the event will receive discounts to attend the TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin event this year. Among the top three winners were Hatch Entertainment in the media category, Deliveroo in eCommerce and Starling Bank in Financial Technology.
