SEC is Searching For Blockchain Companies Capable to Identify Crypto Wallets Owners
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) wants to cooperate with blockchain companies in the field of data collection on innovative technology. In particular, firms are asked to provide insides about the crypto industry, including identities of cryptocurrency wallet owners.
SEC announced an opportunity for blockchain companies. Their primary task will be to assist the compliance and risk monitoring departments of the regulator. Firms will have to research into popular blockchains and collect data from them for the SEC.
In the application, the regulator asked to indicate whether the company is able to provide insights about the data, including the identity of the owners of the crypto wallets.
The selection of applicants will last until February 14.
Last year, SEC Chairman Jay Clayton stated that the SEC sees many threats of manipulation of the cryptocurrency market. It was one of the reasons why the regulator rejected the application on bitcoin ETFs creation. Earlier this year, the SEC announced cryptocurrency is the top priority for regulator’s researching in 2019.
