Hackers Stole Almost $1 million from Electrum Wallet Users
Cryptocurrency wallet Electrum has undergone a phishing attack. Hackers managed to steal 245 BTC, or about $880,000.
Electrum's team warned users about a phishing attack. The attackers have created several fake servers on the Electrum network. When users connected to these servers and performed a transaction in BTC, the wallet showed them errors suggesting the crypto enthusiast update the wallet. If they agreed, the attackers got access to their cryptocurrency.
According to Electrum, the criminals developed a "bunch of servers."
One of the Reddit users conducted own investigation and determined that the attackers transferred all the stolen cryptocurrency to one address. If this is true, then the total amount of stolen money can reach 245 BTC or about $880,000 at current prices.
