The French Will Be Able to Buy BTC in Tobacco Shops
The French company Tobacconists, which specializes in the retail sale of tobacco, will allow clients to purchase Bitcoins in its stores.
According to Europe 1, the company will start selling BTC vouchers at the beginning of the next year. Vouchers will cost 50, 100 and 250 euros.
French crypto startup Keplerk has become a partner of Tobacconists. The project will allow buyers to exchange vouchers for real BTC. Customers will be able to store them on the Keplerk platform. Reuters news agency claims that crypto project will charge a 7% transaction fee for its services.
Initially, 3,000-4,000 tobacco stores will be selling Bitcoin vouchers. There are more than 25,000 such stores in France, and companies hope to attract the rest of them soon.
The French central bank has already responded to the news and cautioned potential investors that Bitcoins are a speculative tool, not a real currency. Therefore, buyers should invest money in it only at their own risk.
