Children’s Author R.L. Stine Refers to Bitcoin in New Book
R.L. Stine, a famous author, made references to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in his most recent novel 2018 Goosebumps.
The book, which was released a few weeks back, was released in collaboration with the upcoming Goosebumps 2 film released this week. The film was produced by Sony and had a budget of over $30 million.
The reference to Bitcoin in a children’s book is peculiar and came as a surprise to many. The reference was discovered by a Reddit user.
The paragraph in which the mention appears is at a part of the novel where the main characters stumble upon a secret path where a crate was a found. They debate what might be inside the hidden treasure, and whether it is “gold, diamonds” or “bitcoins”.
The mention is quite clear, and one of the characters even goes so far as to explain that Bitcoin is a type of cryptocurrency, and a digital coin, not a traditional one. The character goes onto say that Bitcoins are in fact mined.
R.L. Stine entered the ranks of legendary authors after publishing tens of hundreds of novels, particularly his Goosebumps book series, which shot to fame in the 1990’s, and became a household name.
Stine was also named one of the best children’s authors in history and has sold almost half a billion globally.
